Matt Brown of ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Found Deceased in Washington River

Matt Brown, known for his role in the Discovery Channel series ‘Alaskan Bush People,’ has been found deceased in a river in Washington state. He was 42 years old. The news was confirmed by his brother, Bear Brown, through social media.

Family and Community in Mourning

Bear Brown shared that their brother Noah positively identified Matt’s body after it was recovered by authorities. In a heartfelt message, Bear urged fans to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time, especially their mother, Ami Brown.

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a man in a shallow section of the river. Witnesses later found the man face down in the water before he was carried away by the current. A firearm was reportedly recovered from the scene, and initial findings suggest the injury may have been self-inflicted, though a coroner’s examination is pending.

Struggles and Legacy

Matt Brown appeared on ‘Alaskan Bush People’ from 2014 to 2019, stepping away to address personal struggles with addiction. In a 2016 interview, he spoke candidly about his battle with alcohol and his journey towards recovery, emphasizing the support he received from his family.

This tragedy is not the first to strike the Brown family. In 2021, the family patriarch, Billy Brown, passed away following a seizure. The family has expressed their intent to continue honoring his legacy of living off the grid and close to nature.

As the community processes this loss, the family requests prayers and support. For those struggling with similar issues, resources like the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline are available at 988 or 800-273-TALK (8255).
