Green Bay Rockers Secure Back-to-Back Wins Against Madison Mallards

The Green Bay Rockers delighted local fans with impressive victories over the Madison Mallards this past weekend. On Friday, the Rockers returned home to Ashwaubenon after a challenging series against the Wausau Woodchucks, eager to make a statement. They did just that with a commanding 10-2 win in the first game of the two-game set.

Madison’s pitcher, Skylar Lhamon, struggled early, walking in two runs with the bases loaded in the first inning. The Rockers capitalized on this, adding two more runs in the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Aidan Kuni and an RBI single by John Handy. The highlight of the game came in the fifth inning when Seungman Shin hit a towering three-run home run, followed by Eli Selga’s first home run of the season.

Max Wagar made his debut for Green Bay, pitching four innings and allowing just one run, a solo home run by Jonah Weathers. The bullpen took over from there, with Henry Irwin striking out the side in the fifth and sixth innings, and Jayden Martin and KJ Ward each pitching hitless innings to secure the win.

Saturday’s Game

The momentum continued on Saturday as the Rockers defeated the Mallards 11-1. Green Bay’s offense started strong with an RBI single from Eli Selga in the first inning. The team added three more runs in the second inning, thanks to Parker Martin’s RBI single and Aidan Kuni’s two-run double.

Madison managed their only run in the second inning, but Green Bay’s starter, Will Harrigan, kept them at bay with five innings of one-run baseball, striking out six. Relievers Alex LePage and Holden Harris combined to give up only two hits and no runs.

The eighth inning saw a scoring surge from the Rockers, with seven runs, including a three-run homer from Eli Selga, his second in two games. Parker Martin capped off his three-RBI day with a two-run single, and Eric Fernandez added two more runs to seal the victory.

With these wins, Rockers’ manager Josh Merrill reached a milestone of 50 wins in the Northwoods League, becoming the sixth Green Bay manager to achieve this feat.
