Indian River County – A 17‑year‑old male died after being shot late Friday near Garcia’s Boat Ramp, located in the 3700 block of County Road 512 and close to the Fort Drum Marsh Conservation Area.
At approximately 11:24 p.m., Indian River County deputies arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a juvenile who had been shot. Officers located the teen, administered lifesaving measures, and called for Indian River County Fire Rescue assistance.
The victim was first transported to Sebastian River Medical Center. When his condition required a higher level of care, he was air‑lifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Law enforcement officials have not yet identified the shooter. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, along with crime‑scene personnel, are processing the area and interviewing multiple witnesses to determine what transpired.
