Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) announced a major service expansion to help families and visitors reach the State Fair of Texas more easily. The agency is bringing back the popular “State Fair Flyer” shuttle and adding extra weekend trains, ensuring a smoother, family‑friendly ride to Fair Park.
Shuttle routes and schedule
The State Fair Flyer will operate on Saturdays, Sundays and on October 12, the fair’s final day. Hourly shuttles will depart from four DART hubs – Addison Transit Center, Glenn Heights Transit Center, Downtown Rowlett Station, and Lake Ray Hubbard Transit Center – beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running until 5:00 p.m. Each shuttle will arrive at Lot 8 at Fair Park, with the first departure from the lot at noon and the final shuttle leaving at 8:00 p.m.
DART also said additional staff will be stationed at each transit center to assist riders with connections and to answer questions about the fair schedule.
Extended Orange Line and light‑rail service
In addition to the shuttles, the Orange Line will run directly between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Buckner Station on the same weekend dates. This new nonstop option lets travelers fly into DFW and board a train that drops them at Fair Park without needing to transfer.
Light‑rail riders can expect more rail cars on each train and a higher frequency, with trains arriving every 20 minutes. The Trinity Railway Express will follow a Saturday schedule on all four Sundays of the fair, and passengers will be able to transfer to the Green Line at Victory Station for additional route options.
How to pay and where to find more information
Riders can purchase DART passes through the GoPass mobile app, pick up a GoPass Tap card at participating retailers, or simply tap a contactless credit or debit card on the fare reader. Mobile payment apps that support tap‑to‑pay are also accepted.
For full schedules, route maps and fare details, visitors should visit DART.org/statefair. The agency encourages families, seniors and anyone attending the fair to take advantage of the expanded service, which reduces traffic congestion and provides a safe, reliable alternative to driving.
Community impact
By increasing public‑transport options during the State Fair, DART supports traditional families and community members who value convenient, affordable travel. The added service aligns with the agency’s commitment to keep North Texas moving while preserving the region’s quality of life.
