Young Golfer Blades Brown Makes Waves on PGA Tour

Blades Brown, a 19-year-old golfer from Tennessee, is quickly establishing himself on the PGA Tour. Just four months out of high school, Brown has already secured four top 20 finishes in seven starts, including a tie for 14th at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson. His decision to skip college and turn professional during his junior year is proving fruitful.

Early Success and Support

Brown’s journey mirrors that of Akshay Bhatia, who also turned pro as a teenager and found success on the Korn Ferry Tour. Although Brown has yet to win a professional title, his consistent performances have earned him $751,728 from PGA Tour events and $940,357 when including Korn Ferry Tour earnings. Brown attributes much of his success to the support of his parents, particularly his father, who have been instrumental in his career.

Opportunities and Challenges Ahead

With his recent performance, Brown has earned special temporary membership on the PGA Tour, allowing him to take unlimited sponsor exemptions for the rest of the year. He is currently No. 13 in points on the Korn Ferry Tour, where the top 20 earn a tour card for the following year. Brown plans to continue competing on the Korn Ferry Tour, valuing the experience it provides.

Brown’s path is reminiscent of Jordan Spieth’s early career, where strategic decisions led to rapid advancement. Brown acknowledges that his journey is still unfolding, but he is optimistic about the future, driven by his passion for the game and the lessons learned from competing at high levels.
