Detroit couples allege mobile bartender Sip of Eden vanished with payments

Several couples in the Metro Detroit area report that the mobile bartending company “Sip of Eden” disappeared on their wedding days, leaving them without the services they paid for and without refunds. The complaints, shared on the Facebook group “Michigan Weddings – Bride To Bride,” describe a pattern of last‑minute cancellations and unfulfilled promises.

Couples describe broken agreements

Brides who booked the service say they were promised a bartender for their ceremonies, often after paying sizable deposits. One bride, Breanna Miele, disclosed that she was battling cancer during the planning process and had confided this to owner Eden Regula. “She said she was glad I was still here and was very sweet,” Miele recalled, adding that the subsequent cancellation felt like a betrayal of trust.

Samantha Boyer, another engaged woman, said she spoke directly with Regula on the phone and received reassurance that the bartender would be present on her September 22 wedding. Boyer noted that the business had reportedly been sold on September 21, raising questions about the legitimacy of the promised service.

New ownership raises further concerns

According to a statement from Bartender Elite LLC, an Ohio‑based company that recently purchased Sip of Eden, the displaced couples are seeking clarification on whether existing contracts will be honored under the new ownership. Bartender Elite has not yet provided a definitive response.

Potential next steps for affected couples

Many of the brides have begun contacting local consumer‑protection agencies and considering small‑claims court to recover their deposits. The Michigan Attorney General’s office has not announced an investigation at this time, but the volume of complaints suggests a broader issue that may warrant official review.

Community response

The situation has sparked discussion among local wedding planners and vendors, who warn couples to verify the financial stability and ownership status of service providers before signing contracts. Some recommend including clear cancellation and refund clauses in agreements to protect against similar incidents.

As the story develops, affected couples hope for a resolution that restores their wedding plans and provides accountability for the business practices involved.
