Indianapolis – The Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) announced two new resources aimed at supporting law‑enforcement officers and their families during emergencies. At a ceremony on Monday, FOP President Rick Snyder unveiled a 43‑foot mobile emergency response trailer, dubbed the ARC (Active Response Kit), and a four‑bedroom, four‑bath Comfort Cottage that will be offered free of charge to officers in need.
ARC trailer: a mobile “Blue Oasis”
Dubbed the “Blue Oasis” by first‑responders, the ARC trailer is a mobile food and support unit designed to deliver meals, recovery supplies, cleanup equipment, and temporary lodging for response teams. It also includes a private space for chaplaincy services and resource meetings, allowing officers to receive spiritual and emotional care on‑site.
“The ARC trailer is a mobile food and support trailer designed to provide resources for officers and communities in times of tragedy, trouble and crisis,” Snyder said. He noted that the trailer has already been deployed to assist with line‑of‑duty deaths in Delaware County and Beech Grove, as well as flood relief efforts in Carmel and Laurel.
Lucas Oil donated the trailer, TKO Graphics created its distinctive wrap, and Dylan Automotive supplied the truck that transports the unit. Snyder emphasized that the ARC’s rapid‑response capability offers a beacon of hope for both officers and the neighborhoods they serve.
Comfort Cottage: a safe haven for police families
Alongside the trailer, the FOP dedicated its Comfort Cottage, a four‑bedroom, four‑bath home that will be made available at no cost to officers and their families during emergencies. “Think of a Ronald McDonald House for police families,” Snyder explained. “This shall be a place of comfort for cops here, near and far.”
The cottage has already helped members of the North Carolina FOP after Hurricane Helene, providing a temporary home while they recovered from the storm’s devastation.
Supporting Indianapolis families and neighborhoods
Both the ARC trailer and Comfort Cottage reflect the FOP’s commitment to caring for the men and women who protect Indianapolis every day. By offering practical assistance—food, shelter, and a quiet space for prayer and counseling—the resources aim to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community.
“This is all about meeting urgent needs,” Snyder said. “That is what the ARC trailer, the cottage and the women and men who make it happen are all about.”
Community partners rally behind the effort
The dedication ceremony highlighted the collaborative spirit of local businesses. Lucas Oil’s donation, TKO Graphics’ design work, and Dylan Automotive’s transportation support demonstrate how private‑sector partners can help safeguard public servants.
City leaders praised the initiative, noting that such resources enhance Indianapolis’s overall emergency‑response infrastructure and provide families with the reassurance that help is nearby when disaster strikes.
Looking ahead
With the ARC trailer now ready for deployment and the Comfort Cottage prepared to welcome families, the Indianapolis FOP encourages other community organizations to consider similar partnerships that prioritize the well‑being of first responders. As the city continues to grow, these tools will play a vital role in ensuring that officers and their loved ones have the support they need during the most challenging moments.
