Natrona County gas prices stay steady at $4.21 while Wyoming average climbs

Casper – Residents of Natrona County saw little change at the pump this week, with the average price for regular gasoline remaining at $4.21 per gallon on Monday, AAA reported. That stability comes as the statewide average in Wyoming nudged higher, reaching roughly $4.49 per gallon, a two‑cent increase over the prior week.

Local pricing details

According to GasBuddy’s driver‑submitted reports, the cheapest fuel in Natrona County can be found at Sam’s Club on East 2nd Street, where the price sits at $4.13 per gallon. Close behind are Maverik, Bid D and Sinclair in Mills, each offering gasoline at $4.16 per gallon. The county’s average places it third in the state, just a tenth of a cent above Campbell County, which posted the same $4.21 average.

Statewide and national context

Wyoming’s overall average rose modestly, while the national average tracked by AAA held steady at $4.47 per gallon. GasBuddy’s own national figure showed a slight dip to $4.42 per gallon, down 1.6 cents for the week. Compared with a month ago, the national price is up 35.9 cents, and it is $1.34 higher than this time last year.

Diesel prices moved in the opposite direction, falling 4.1 cents to about $6.45 per gallon nationwide. The most common price paid at the pump across the country was $4.19 per gallon.

Market forces and administration outlook

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that gasoline prices fell in more than half of U.S. states last week. He attributed declines in the Great Lakes region to the restart of a local refinery, while West Coast prices rose because of ongoing refinery constraints.

De Haan added, “With oil holding below $100 per barrel, many Americans may see modest declines ahead for gasoline and slight drops for diesel, but the West Coast faces continued pressure with further increases possible.” He also highlighted the fluid geopolitical environment, noting that President Trump is still weighing a potential diesel export ban, which could influence future pricing.

Oil market movements

Crude oil prices surged on Monday after President Trump rejected a seven‑day proposal from Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran had offered to lift the shipping channel if the United States ended its naval blockade, unfroze Iranian assets and halted military operations. West Texas Intermediate jumped $2.44 to $94.85 per barrel, while Brent crude rose $2.55 to $106.87 per barrel.

Giovanni Staunovo, a commodities analyst at UBS, observed that tanker traffic through the Strait remains below normal levels, keeping global supplies tight.

Inventory data

The Energy Information Administration reported that U.S. commercial crude inventories increased by 3 million barrels, placing them about 2 % above the five‑year seasonal average. Gasoline inventories fell by 1.7 million barrels, now 6 % below average, and distillate supplies dropped by 400,000 barrels, 12 % below the seasonal norm.

What this means for Wyoming drivers

For Wyoming motorists, the steady price in Natrona County offers a brief reprieve amid national fluctuations. While the state’s average continues to climb, local retailers such as Sam’s Club and the Mills stations provide the most affordable options for families budgeting their household expenses.

As the administration monitors global oil dynamics and considers policy tools like a diesel export ban, Wyoming drivers can expect the market to remain responsive to both international events and domestic supply conditions. Keeping an eye on local price reports and national trends will help residents make informed fueling decisions.
