Tragic Shooting at Seguin Walmart Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

A tragic incident unfolded at a Walmart in Seguin, Texas, where a woman was fatally shot and a man was injured on Thursday afternoon. The Seguin Police Department responded to the scene at the 500 block of South Highway 123 Bypass around 4:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Katrina Wheeler with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A 37-year-old man, who also suffered gunshot wounds, was airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio. His current condition remains unknown.

Suspect Apprehended

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old John Wheeler of Seguin, was located after a search. His vehicle was found outside the city limits, leading to a brief pursuit that ended in the 3000 block of FM 775. Wheeler was subsequently arrested with the assistance of multiple agencies, including the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Game Wardens, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The motive behind the shooting is still unclear, and the relationship between the suspect and the victims has not been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

This incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and support for law enforcement efforts to ensure public safety.
