Jackson, WY – The Teton County Search & Rescue Foundation (TCSARF) announced the return of its acclaimed The Fine Line podcast for a 10‑episode, 10th‑season launch on October 1. Produced under the Backcountry Zero initiative, the series uses real‑life rescue stories to teach backcountry safety and highlight the dedication of first responders.
Season 10 focus and upcoming episodes
Each episode will feature the perspectives of both rescuers and those they saved, offering a rare chance for the two parties to debrief an emergency together. Host and producer Matt Hansen explained, “There is something special about rescuers and rescuees coming together to discuss a backcountry emergency. These personal stories really help the rest of us understand the nuance of an incident and can lead to more empathy for the survivors and awareness of how we can prevent such accidents in the future.”
The season will cover a range of topics, including the devastating consequences of an avalanche, a dramatic rescue on the Grand Teton, downhill mountain biking on Teton Pass, a retrospective on how the podcast began, a life‑saving rescue in the Wind River Range, and the healing power of the backcountry after a near‑tragedy.
Live “Lessons from 13,000” event
To celebrate the milestone, TCSARF will host a live storytelling evening titled “Lessons from 13,000: Stories of adventure, risk, and survival in the high alpine” on October 7 at the Pink Garter. Four rescuers and rescuees will share their experiences, illustrating the fine line between fun and risk in the mountains. The event is designed to spark open discussion about preparation and responsible decision‑making for high‑alpine adventures.
