Co‑owner Narbeh Ghazalian explained that the extent of the damage made rebuilding the original space a lengthy prospect. “Once we realized how long it will take to rebuild the old location and saw the extent of the damage, we knew we had to open a temporary location,” he said.
Turning to social media for assistance, the cafe’s owners received an unexpected offer from longtime patron Ashley Anu. Because her husband sells condos at the Sun Rose on Sunset Boulevard, Anu recognized an opportunity to house Dialog Cafe in a vacant hotel space nearby.
“I followed up with my husband, reaching out and connecting ownership to Dialog’s owners,” Anu said. “To be able to help them, connect such a great property with such a great restaurant, and see the community come together — I’m so excited for them.”
Grand opening at the new temporary site
The temporary venue, located just half a mile from the original address on Holloway Drive, features a spacious kitchen and a large patio offering sweeping views of Los Angeles. “The hotel has done a great job with the space,” Ghazalian noted. “The kitchen is ideally set up, and there’s a huge patio with a breathtaking view of Los Angeles.”
Dialog Cafe plans to hold its official grand opening on October 3, marking a rapid recovery just two months after the water main incident.
