San Antonio KPOPWORLD Festival Delayed to 2027 Over Visa Issues

San Antonio’s much‑anticipated KPOPWORLD Festival has been postponed until 2027, organizers said Friday, after encountering significant visa delays for several of the headline acts. The decision follows extensive discussions with immigration, production and event teams, who concluded that postponing the event would best protect fans and ensure a full lineup.

Original plans and lineup

The inaugural festival was slated for Oct. 28‑31, 2026, at the Alamodome, and was marketed as a “global celebration of K‑pop, music, dance, culture and fandom.” Headliners announced for the original dates included Korean‑American star Jay Park, the pop‑rock group The Rose, and Filipino boy‑band SB19, with concerts scheduled for Oct. 30‑31.

Visa complications force delay

Organizers cited difficulty obtaining U.S. visas for some of the artists, despite using expedited services and “all means of services” available. They warned that the visa bottleneck could have resulted in a “significantly reduced lineup,” disappointing fans and undermining the promised experience. To avoid those outcomes, the festival’s leadership opted to push the event to 2027, allowing ample time to secure the necessary travel authorizations.

Refunds and future ticket access

Ticketmaster will process refunds for anyone who purchased tickets for the 2026 dates. Refunds will be credited to the original buyer’s payment method within 14 days. Organizers also promised that ticket holders will receive an exclusive presale code for the rescheduled 2027 event before tickets go on sale to the general public.

Impact on the local community

The postponement is a setback for San Antonio’s cultural calendar, as the festival was expected to draw thousands of fans from across Texas and beyond, boosting local hospitality, dining and transportation sectors. City officials have expressed support for the event’s eventual return, noting the economic and cultural benefits that large‑scale music festivals bring to the Alamo City.

Looking ahead

While the delay is disappointing for eager fans, organizers remain confident that the extra time will allow them to secure the full roster of international acts and deliver the high‑energy experience promised. They encourage fans to stay tuned for updates on the new dates and to take advantage of the upcoming presale opportunity.
