Polk and content manager Lesley Engle obtained documents that showed teammates engaging in “inappropriate physical conduct linked to hazing” inside the football locker room. The records detail incidents such as a player’s genitalia being placed on another teammate’s face or mouth.
The school district began its own inquiry after principal Amanda Bowser received two anonymous letters in October 2024 alleging hazing within the football program. Assistant principal Guillermo Ramirez completed a Sexual Harassment Report Intake form about a month later, triggering a formal investigation.
School response and personnel changes
Following the investigation, the El Paso Independent School District made adjustments to the football program after the season concluded. Long‑time football coach and athletic director Daren Walker was reassigned from his duties for a “personal matter.” District officials have not disclosed further details about his employment status.
