Packers RB Josh Jacobs Seeks to Seal Domestic Violence Evidence, NFL Decision Pending

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is facing a potential NFL suspension after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property stemming from a May 23 domestic incident. While Jacobs has been placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, his future discipline remains uncertain.

Motion to Seal Evidence

Attorneys Ramses Jalalpour and Amir Tahmassebi, representing Jacobs’ ex‑girlfriend identified only as “ANM,” filed a motion on Tuesday to permanently seal all evidence and discovery materials in the criminal case. The motion, they said, is “consistent with our client’s desire to protect her privacy.” The request follows a temporary sealing of a surveillance video that captured part of the incident inside Jacobs’ garage.

Legal Consequences for Jacobs

Jacobs pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charges and was ordered to have no contact with the woman, pay restitution, attend counseling, and remain under supervision for one year. He also faces the NFL’s baseline six‑game suspension for a first‑time domestic violence offense, with the possibility of a longer ban if aggravating factors are found.

NFL Investigation

The league is actively seeking the sealed video as part of its own investigation, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Jacobs’ attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac, released a statement saying the running back “fully understands the seriousness of the situation and takes full responsibility.” They added that the resolution reflects Jacobs’ long‑standing community involvement throughout his career.

Impact on the Packers

As the Packers opened the 2026 season with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Jacobs’ pending suspension could affect the team’s depth at running back. The Exempt List status means any time served there will count toward any eventual suspension.

Both the criminal case and the NFL’s disciplinary process are ongoing. The outcome will determine whether the sealed evidence remains inaccessible to the league or if it will be released for review.
