Costco Wholesale is accelerating its expansion, unveiling plans for ten new warehouses in the United States over the next two months and four additional locations in Canada. The company aims to keep its long‑term target of more than 30 net new openings each year.
Fall openings in the United States
Five of the new U.S. stores are slated to open in October 2026:
- Lee’s Summit, Missouri
- The Colony, Texas
- Amherst, New York (a suburb of Buffalo)
- Lawrence, Kansas
- Camarillo, California
The Amherst store will be the first Costco in the Buffalo metro area, ending a 75‑mile drive to the nearest warehouse in Rochester.
Five additional locations are scheduled for November 2026:
- South Meridian, Idaho
- Vallejo, California
- Chandler, Arizona
- Newport News, Virginia
- Franklin, Wisconsin
Canadian expansion continues
Canada, which already hosts more than 100 Costco warehouses, will add four new stores:
- NE Edmonton, Alberta
- Lloydminster, Alberta
- E Windsor, Ontario
- Wasaga Beach, Ontario
Company outlook
During its May 28 earnings call, Costco revised its annual opening target to 26 new warehouses but reaffirmed its ambition to reach 30‑plus net new locations each year. “Our real‑estate operations team continues to focus on increasing our pipeline of new warehouses both domestically and internationally,” said Costco President and Chief Executive Officer Ron Vachris.
Costco now operates 928 locations worldwide and serves 82.9 million paid members. Membership options include the Executive Membership at $130 per year and the Gold Star Membership at $65 per year.
