Omaha residents received an unexpected visitor this week when a female cave myotis bat was discovered on the floor of an office building in downtown Omaha. The bat, a species native to the western and southwestern United States and parts of Mexico, had never before been recorded in the state of Nebraska.
How the bat was found
Employees working in the building noticed the small, dark creature and immediately contacted the Nebraska Humane Society Animal Control.
