TCS subsidiary to invest $7.4 billion in AI data‑center campus in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, India – Tata Consultancy Services’ subsidiary HyperVault announced a massive investment of up to 700 billion rupees (about $7.41 billion) to develop a 1‑gigawatt artificial‑intelligence data‑center campus in the city. The project will be built on a 264‑acre parcel the company has secured in the state of Telangana and will be rolled out in phases.

Local impact and job creation

State officials say the campus will boost Hyderabad’s reputation as a technology hub, drawing AI companies and hyperscalers that need high‑density GPU capacity for training and inference workloads. The development is expected to generate a significant number of skilled jobs and spur ancillary businesses in the region.

Facility details

When fully built, the HyperVault campus will rank among India’s largest AI‑infrastructure sites. It is designed to support the power‑intensive demands of modern AI models, offering reliable, high‑capacity electricity and advanced cooling systems.

Strategic rationale

“Hyderabad offers the scale, talent pool, and ecosystem needed to serve our global customers,” said TCS CEO K. Krithivasan. The announcement follows TCS’s recent agreement to acquire Porsche AG’s automotive and consulting unit MHP, signaling the company’s broader push beyond traditional IT services into high‑growth technology sectors.

Broader context

The investment reflects a growing trend of multinational tech firms establishing large‑scale AI infrastructure in India, leveraging the country’s cost‑effective power grid and abundant engineering talent. It also aligns with India’s national strategy to become a leader in AI research and deployment.
