Morphew was arrested Thursday night and booked on a failure‑to‑comply charge related to an outside agency. He has been accused of killing his wife, Suzanne Morphew, whose body was later found and ruled a homicide. The case was previously dismissed in 2022 but was reopened after new evidence emerged.

According to a court order issued on Sept. 2, Morphew was ordered to remain at home at all times, with exceptions only for medical appointments, emergencies, meetings with his attorney, court appearances, or work. The order also required proof that the vehicle involved in an alleged Aug. 26 hit‑and‑run was registered to him.

The district attorney’s motion, filed on Sept. 3, cited GPS data from RMS indicating Morphew drove from his home to Denver International Airport around 10 a.m., arriving at about 11:45 a.m., and then left shortly thereafter. The DA argued that any travel to the airport that was not work‑related breached his bond conditions and demonstrated a heightened flight risk.

Morphew’s attorney claimed the trip may have been to pick up his daughter, but the DA maintained that only a work‑related purpose was permissible under the bond terms.

Judge’s order and next steps

Judge granted the DA’s request, raising the bond to $3 million cash only and issuing a warrant for Morphew’s arrest. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Sept. 8.
