Sunshine and Lower Humidity Return to Kentucky

Residents of Central and Eastern Kentucky are experiencing a welcome change in weather as sunshine and lower humidity return to the region. After several days of rain and storms, Thursday morning began with patchy fog and cloud cover, but conditions have since improved.

Weather Improvements

Drier air is moving into the area, leading to cooler morning temperatures compared to earlier in the week. Although some clouds lingered in the morning, skies are expected to clear as high pressure over the Great Lakes pushes drier air into Kentucky. This shift will bring sunshine back to many locations by the afternoon, with temperatures climbing into the low 80s.

Northeast winds between 5 and 15 mph will help maintain comfortable humidity levels, a relief from the muggy conditions of recent days. Tonight, skies are expected to remain mostly clear, allowing temperatures to drop into the mid 50s, with some sheltered valleys in the Bluegrass region potentially dipping into the upper 40s.

Looking Ahead

Friday promises a beautiful start to the weekend with abundant sunshine and afternoon highs in the upper 70s. The weather pattern through the weekend appears quieter, with only a few isolated showers possible near the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Most areas, particularly around Lexington and the Bluegrass, are expected to remain dry with plenty of sunshine.

A significant drop in humidity is anticipated this weekend as another wave of drier air arrives on Saturday. This will provide a noticeable contrast to the sticky air experienced recently. As we move into early next week and the start of June, the dry air is expected to persist, ensuring mostly sunny skies and comfortable conditions. Temperatures will remain slightly below average for this time of year, with highs in the mid to upper 70s and overnight lows in the 50s and lower 60s.
