The City of Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED) Group is inviting residents to participate in shaping the future of the downtown area. On Thursday, June 4, two public input sessions will be held to gather community feedback on the third phase of the Downtown Streetscape project. These sessions will take place from 8:30 to 10 AM and from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in Meeting Rooms A&B at the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle St.
Community Engagement
This initiative offers residents a chance to voice their preferences for the streetscape elements that will be included in the final design. The open house-style event will feature proposed alternative exhibit boards, and city staff and consultants will be available to provide details, answer questions, and collect feedback. Although there will be no formal presentations, the input gathered will play a crucial role in developing the final design and construction documents.
Project Details
The proposed third phase focuses on the reconstruction of Jefferson Avenue between Washington Street and Main Street, and Main Street between Jefferson Avenue and Van Buren Avenue. Scheduled to begin in the spring of 2027, the project includes utility repairs and upgrades, streetscape modernization, complete road reconstruction, and pavement enhancements. The new design aims to create spaces for trees and open areas for businesses, while also improving pedestrian mobility and accessibility.
Residents who are unable to attend the sessions can still contribute their feedback by emailing [email protected] until Friday, June 12. For more information about the project, visit the city’s website at www.naperville.il.us/dtprogress.
