PBS Fort Wayne Shifts Wednesday Night to Air Dolly Parton Documentary

Fort Wayne, IN – PBS Fort Wayne announced a schedule change for Wednesday night, beginning at 8 p.m. on August 26. The station will pre‑empt its usual 10 p.m. program, Resolve To Solve with Miles O’Brien: Weathering Change Through Wind and Heat, to air a special documentary titled Dolly Parton: Here I Am.

The 90‑minute film offers an in‑depth look at the late country‑music legend, tracing the people and places that shaped her remarkable career. Viewers can expect archival footage spanning decades, as well as new interviews with notable personalities such as Jane Fonda, Mac Davis, and Lily Tomlin, who share personal reflections on Parton’s influence.

“We are delighted to bring this tribute to our audience,” said a spokesperson for PBS Fort Wayne. “Dolly Parton’s story resonates with families and communities across the nation, and her legacy of music, generosity, and faith aligns with the values we celebrate in our programming.”

The documentary will be available on channel 39.1 and can also be streamed through the PBS website and the PBS app, giving viewers multiple ways to watch the special at their convenience.

Why the Change Matters to Fort Wayne Residents

Local viewers often rely on PBS for educational and cultural content that reflects both national heritage and community interests. By featuring a documentary on Dolly Parton, the station highlights a figure whose music and charitable work have touched many families, reinforcing the importance of arts and heritage in everyday life.

Fort Wayne residents have previously honored Parton in other ways, including the recent decision by Indiana state officials to lower flags to half‑staff in her memory. The PBS special adds another layer of recognition, offering a shared viewing experience for families gathering around the television on a Wednesday evening.

How to Watch

Those with a traditional television setup can tune to PBS Fort Wayne on channel 39.1 at 8 p.m. The documentary will also be accessible via the station’s online streaming portal and the PBS mobile app, allowing viewers to watch on smartphones, tablets, or computers.

For more information about the schedule change or to explore additional PBS programming, residents can visit the station’s website or contact the viewer services department.
