Jackson Town Council Denies Pearl Ave. Development Proposal

In a decision that maintains the current landscape of Pearl Street, the Jackson Town Council has officially denied the development application for the northwest corner of Pearl Ave. and Glenwood St. This area, home to Pearl Street Bagels and other local businesses, will remain unchanged following the council’s decision on May 18.

Background and Decision

The proposal, submitted by property owner Jeff Neishabouri last October, aimed to remodel the parcel at 145 W Pearl Ave. The plan faced scrutiny from the start, with the Planning Commission recommending its denial in January. The Design Review Committee also reviewed the proposal, which was then set for discussion by the Town Council in March.

However, the March meeting did not see the proposal move forward. Instead, Neishabouri was granted a 45-day continuance to submit updated documentation. By the time of the May 18 meeting, no new plans had been submitted, and Neishabouri was absent from the proceedings.

Future Prospects

When contacted by Buckrail, Neishabouri declined to comment directly on the council’s decision but indicated via text message that the project is currently on hold. “We have decided to put it on pause for now,” he stated, leaving the future of the development uncertain.

This decision underscores the importance of thorough planning and community involvement in local development projects. For now, the businesses on Pearl Street will continue to serve the community as they have, maintaining the character of this part of Jackson.
