Free Summer Meal Programs for Children in Quad Cities

As summer begins, children in the Quad Cities area have access to free meals through local school districts and organizations, ensuring that no child goes hungry during the break. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program is supporting these efforts, providing meals to children aged 18 and younger.

Davenport, Iowa

The Davenport Community Schools are opening several meal sites from June 8 to July 31, offering breakfast and lunch to children aged one to 17. Meals are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no income restrictions. Notable events include a Youth Fest at Ferjervary Park on June 24.

Meal sites in Davenport include:

  • Hope at Brick House, 1431 N. Ripley St.
  • Lincoln Center, 318 E. 7th St.
  • Roosevelt Community Center, 1220 Minnie Ave.
  • Fairmount Branch Library, 3000 N. Fairmount St.
  • And several others.

Bettendorf, Iowa

In Bettendorf, the school district and parks department are collaborating to provide meals from June 8 to July 31. Meals are available to children 18 and younger, Monday through Friday, with adjustments for the holiday weekend.

Key locations include:

  • Mark Twain Elementary, 1620 Lincoln Rd.
  • Bettendorf High School, 3333 18th St.
  • McManus Park, 1200 Mississippi Blvd.

Whiteside County, Illinois

The United Way of Whiteside County is celebrating the 25th year of its ‘Let’s Feed Our Children’ program, distributing meals every Wednesday from May 27 to August 5 across 17 sites in 11 communities.

Participating sites include:

  • United Methodist Church, Albany
  • Village office, Erie
  • First Reformed Church, Fulton
  • And many others.
