Tempe Police to Feature on National TV Show ‘On Patrol: Live’

Residents of Tempe, Arizona, will soon see their local police officers featured on the national television series ‘On Patrol: Live.’ This reality show, which documents the daily activities of law enforcement officers, will include Tempe Police Department starting May 29. The program is known for its mix of live footage and pre-taped segments, providing viewers with an inside look at the work of police officers across the country.

Community Engagement Through Television

Tempe Police Chief Ken McCoy expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to showcase the department’s values and community engagement efforts. ‘People often see police work through headlines or brief moments in a crisis,’ McCoy stated. ‘On Patrol: Live’ allows us to share a broader picture of our officers, our values, and the many ways we serve and connect with the community.’

The show, airing on the Reelz network on Friday and Saturday evenings, aims to document the actions of law enforcement officers without interfering with their duties. According to the show’s website, participating police departments do not have editorial control over the content that is broadcast, ensuring an authentic portrayal of police work.

Continuing a Tradition of Transparency

Tempe is not the first Arizona law enforcement agency to participate in such a program. Previously, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office was featured on the series ‘Live PD’ and more recently appeared in the Netflix show ‘Unlocked: A Jail Experiment.’ These appearances are part of a broader trend of law enforcement agencies using media to enhance transparency and community relations.

As Tempe officers prepare to step into the national spotlight, the community will have the chance to see firsthand the dedication and challenges faced by their local police force. This initiative aligns with the department’s commitment to transparency and fostering trust within the community.
