Albuquerque takes center stage in the new trailer for “Coyote vs. Acme.” The clip uses local streets, buildings and a courthouse to set scenes for the Looney Tunes–inspired courtroom story. The film was also shot in the city.
The trailer opens with Wile E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner across New Mexico landscapes. When the chase fails again, Coyote sues the Acme corporation for the injuries caused by its products.
He hires an injury lawyer played by Will Forte. Acme’s legal team is led by a villainous John Cena. Cena’s character wears a turquoise bolo tie in several scenes.
A courtroom shot clearly shows the trial taking place in New Mexico. The state flag is visible in the scene.
The trailer moves to downtown Albuquerque at 3rd Street and Central Avenue. Porky Pig is hit by a construction wrecking ball in one sequence. A wide shot includes the Library Bar & Grill.
Another scene nods to “Breaking Bad.” It shows Tweety Bird and a group of men in suits, including Cena, meeting in the desert.
The trailer includes a broadcast-style news clip filmed outside the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court. The broadcast looks like channel 4, though it is not from KOB (and honestly we are okay with that).
Scenes for Acme’s headquarters were shot at the UNM Film & Digital Arts building at Mesa del Sol. Visual effects expanded the set to make the complex look larger on screen.
The trailer ends with more Looney Tunes chaos and a cameo by Bugs Bunny. It mixes physical gags with courtroom satire.
“Coyote vs. Acme” nearly disappeared in 2023 when Warner Bros. shelved the project as a tax write-off after the pandemic. Ketchup Entertainment later acquired distribution rights and leaned into that history with jokes aimed at Warner Bros. in the trailer.
