FDA Finds No Child Deaths Definitively Linked to Covid Vaccines

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a report stating that no child deaths have been definitively linked to Covid vaccines. This announcement comes in response to previous claims by former FDA vaccine chief Dr. Vinay Prasad, who suggested that there were unreported child deaths associated with the vaccines.

FDA’s Analysis and Findings

The FDA’s analysis, which was quietly made public, reviewed 96 reports of child deaths submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) through August 2025. The report concluded that none of these cases were certain to be linked to Covid vaccination. VAERS is a system where anyone can report health issues following vaccination, but the FDA emphasized that these reports alone do not establish causality.

In the analysis, five deaths were classified as ‘possible’ and two as ‘probable,’ but the agency noted that these classifications do not confirm the vaccine as the cause. Other potential explanations for these deaths could not be ruled out. The classifications were based on criteria from the World Health Organization.

Concerns and Clarifications

Dr. Jesse Goodman, a former FDA chief scientist, noted that the FDA was cautious in its assessment, acknowledging the challenges in establishing a direct link between the vaccine and the reported deaths. The report also highlighted that myocarditis, a rare heart inflammation, was a common factor in the cases reviewed. This condition has been linked to Covid vaccines, particularly in teenage boys and young men, and has been included on vaccine labels since 2021.

Dr. Ofer Levy from Boston Children’s Hospital emphasized that infections, including viruses like Covid, are the primary cause of myocarditis. He noted that while mild cases often resolve with rest, severe cases may require hospitalization.

Implications for Vaccine Safety

The FDA’s report was referenced in a letter by Sen. Ron Johnson to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., calling for transparency in vaccine safety. The analysis aims to provide clarity amid ongoing discussions about vaccine safety and the processes involved in reviewing adverse event reports.
