A local man recently shared his story of trying out for the popular game show The Price Is Right in the 1980s. The man, who grew up watching the show with his grandmother, decided to take a chance and try out for the program when his spouse was sent to a class in Irvine, California.
The Experience
The man arrived at the studio at 3:30 a.m. to wait in line for tickets, which were available on a first-come, first-served basis. After waiting for several hours, he was able to secure a ticket and returned to the studio later that day to watch the show being taped.
Although he did not get selected to participate in the show, the man had a great view of the action and enjoyed watching the contestants compete. He also learned about the behind-the-scenes process of filming a game show, including the use of a small logo and the time it takes to tape a one-hour show.
The man’s experience on The Price Is Right was a memorable one, and he still has the price stamper he used to work with at the local Piggly Wiggly. He hopes to one day use it again to help someone in need.
