According to the 2026 Texas International Residential Transactions Report, international buyers purchased approximately 7,780 Texas homes from April 2025 to March 2026, a slight increase from the previous year. The majority of these buyers, 62%, were living in the U.S. on visas or as recent immigrants.
Breakdown of International Buyers
The report found that 35% of foreign buyers were Mexican nationals, followed by Indian nationals at 14%, Chinese nationals at 9%, Nigerian nationals at 5%, and British nationals at 5%. The majority of non-resident buyers paid in all cash, with 59% of purchases being made without financing.
The report also noted that the majority of foreign buyers, 57%, purchased a primary residence, with 83% purchasing detached single-family homes and 58% purchasing homes in the suburbs. The median price of homes purchased by international buyers was $375,000, which is $41,400 higher than the median price for all Texas homes sold during the same period.
Texas REALTORS® 2026 Chairman Jennifer Wauhob stated that the relative affordability in Texas, as well as the state’s strong economy and quality of life, are major factors in the high international interest in Texas real estate.
