A company called Prodigy Wildfire Solutions has developed a new sprinkler system that can detect fires and create a ‘humidity bubble’ around a property to help stop embers from igniting. The system is equipped with infrared sensors and can be operated remotely through an app, allowing homeowners to evacuate quickly in case of a wildfire.
How it Works
The sprinklers provide 360-degree coverage, spraying not only the home itself but also the surrounding area. The system is self-contained and does not rely on a single water source, such as a swimming pool or municipal water supply. Instead, water is pumped from a 1,500-gallon tank to the sprinklers.
The system starts at $20,000, and while not all insurance companies offer discounts for this type of fire protection, several insurers have reduced homeowners’ premiums by as much as 25% after installation.
