A 29-year-old woman, Tasia Fortune, was found hanging from a tree behind an abandoned home in Jackson, Mississippi, on August 3. The Jackson Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Investigation Ongoing
Terence Anderson, 65, a person of interest in connection with Fortune’s death, was taken into custody on an unrelated weapons charge. Anderson’s brother, Tony, said he does not think his brother was involved in Fortune’s death.
Fortune’s mother, Christy Spivey, said she last saw her daughter on July 26 at a family reunion in Kentucky. Spivey said her daughter seemed to be in good spirits and did not believe she died by suicide.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and release its findings once the investigation is complete.
