Lane has been a catcher for his entire baseball career but had to switch to pitching due to the injury. He played for the Mystic Schooners, a collegiate baseball summer league, and wore protective glasses every time he pitched. Lane appeared in 15 games and pitched in 19 innings this season for the Schooners.
