Typhoon Dolphin made landfall in Zhejiang, China, on Sunday evening, bringing with it powerful winds and heavy rain that have caused flooding in several provinces, including Anhui, Jiangsu, and Shandong.
The storm has had a significant impact on the city of Shanghai, with many streets in the suburban Jiading and Qingpu districts remaining waterlogged on Monday morning. Shanghai’s two airports cancelled a total of 943 flights due to the typhoon, reducing capacity by nearly 40% on Monday.
The typhoon’s strong winds also flipped over a truck in Zhejiang’s Wenzhou, and authorities in the capital Beijing have raised warnings for torrential rain and are prepared to activate their flood control response.
The typhoon is forecast to move deeper inland to the central provinces of Hubei and Henan in the coming days, bringing with it the potential for further flooding and disruption.
