Jacksonville Jazz Festival Returns Downtown with Free Performances

The vibrant sounds of jazz will fill Downtown Jacksonville this weekend as the 2026 Jacksonville Jazz Festival returns from Thursday through Sunday. This beloved event, which has been a staple of the community since its inception in 1979, offers free admission and promises a weekend full of music and festivities.

Festival Locations and Events

The main stage for the festival will be located at Ford on Bay, 288 E. Bay St., with additional performances at Jazz in the Plaza at Riverfront Plaza Park, 2 W. Independent Drive. The festival kicks off with the Jazz Piano Competition at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Florida Theatre, featuring talented finalists Quintin Harris, Max Holm, Ian McCune, Rowan Tucker-Meyer, and Christian Valdes. The winner will have the opportunity to perform on the Ford on Bay Stage later in the weekend.

Friday’s lineup includes performances by John Lumpkin II, Butcher Brown, and Parliament Funkadelic featuring George Clinton at Ford on Bay, while Jazz in the Plaza will host DJ Nickfresh and the Marcus Click Quintet. Gates open at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with artists like Kim Scott, Sheila E. and The E-Train, and Andra Day gracing the stages.

Additional Festivities

Beyond the music, attendees can enjoy the Jazz Jam from 9 p.m. to midnight at Riverfront Plaza, a Jazz Clinic on Sunday at The Jessie, and a Jazz Parade starting near Ford on Bay Stage on Sunday evening. The festival will operate cashless, accepting major credit cards and tap-to-pay options at all city sale locations.
