The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport board has approved several significant infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the airport’s facilities and services. Local contractor Archer Western Construction has been awarded a $479,330 contract to conduct both temporary and permanent repairs on the pedestrian bridge connecting Terminals C and D. This decision follows a recent inspection that identified a crack in the concrete support, necessitating repairs over a 259-day calendar term that began on December 11, 2025.
Parking Lot Expansion
In addition to the bridge repairs, the board has initiated the expansion of the South Remote parking lot. The project, undertaken by Batson-Cook of Irving, is valued at $11,635 and will add 1,500 parking spaces along with a second entrance and exit. This expansion is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for travelers, featuring an additional bus stop to facilitate transportation. The contract was awarded to the lowest of 10 bidders and is scheduled for completion over 420 days.
Terminal F Developments
Further developments include a $50 million reimbursement agreement with American Airlines for procurement and construction services at Terminal F. This terminal is part of the broader DFW Forward initiative, a $12 billion capital improvement plan. The project encompasses interior and exterior finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment for Phase 1 hold rooms and gate areas, as well as coordination with the airport’s design-builder to finalize building layouts and systems.
Skylink System Upgrade
Lastly, the board approved a $3.95 million contract with Alstom Transport USA to replace the public address system at the 10 existing Skylink stations and integrate the new Terminal F Skylink infrastructure. The total revised contract amount is $31.10 million, with construction expected to run through August 12, 2027. This upgrade addresses the obsolescence of the current system, ensuring it meets both current and future needs.
