U.S. Rep. Eric Burlison will once again advance to the November ballot after securing the GOP nomination for Missouri’s 7th Congressional District in the Tuesday, Aug. 4 primary election.

Primary Election Results

The Associated Press declared Burlison the winner of a three-way GOP primary at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday evening. Burlison was challenged by Grayson Hunt and John Casey.

In the November general election, Burlison will face the same Democrat and Libertarian he faced in 2024, Missi Hesketh and Kevin Craig, respectively. Neither Hesketh nor Craig had challengers in their parties.

First elected in 2022, Burlison is seeking a third term representing southwest Missouri in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Republican-leaning 7th Congressional District encompasses Barry, Christian, Greene, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Jasper, Stone and Taney counties and the southern half of Webster County.

Burlison, 49, previously served in both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly, representing House District 133 and Senate District 20.

In Congress, Burlison serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs, which is part of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

A staunch conservative, Burlison has gained fame for his efforts to declassify records regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena, commonly known as unidentified flying objects or UFOs. In recent months, he has pushed a bill referred to as the “Great American Health Plan Act,” which would significantly rework America’s health care system in part by expanding health savings accounts.
