In a social media post, Greene shared a photograph of a meeting featuring herself, her husband Brian Glenn, Carlson, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Massie’s wife, and Joe Kent. Greene expressed disappointment with the current state of the Republican Party, stating that they had supported Donald Trump because he promised to end foreign wars, but felt betrayed by his actions.
Carlson, who announced his departure from the Republican Party in June, has been critical of U.S. involvement in the Middle East, arguing that foreign interests have overly influenced American military decisions. He stated that he would not support the Republican Party and was working to help build a third-party alternative.
President Donald Trump has pushed back against claims that foreign leaders dictate U.S. military actions, stating that he makes the decisions and that Israel would accept whatever deal the administration cuts with Iran.
