Dallas Fire Station 43, located just north of Love Field, has been forced to relocate its crews due to air conditioning and electrical issues. The station’s ladder truck, engine, and ambulance have been reassigned to two other stations, each more than 2 miles away.

Impact on Emergency Response Times

The temporary relocation has raised concerns among nearby businesses about emergency response times, particularly during the hot summer months. Bill Holcomb, who works at Staz-On Roofing next to Station 43, expressed his concern, saying, “Nice and close if we have any emergencies or anything.” He hopes the repairs are completed soon, stating, “I think we should get that A/C fixed for them over there. They do their job and they do it well.”

The Dallas Firefighters Association President, Chris Peterson, emphasized the importance of restoring the station, saying, “We owe that to the citizens, we owe that to the firefighters.” The department is working to repair both the electrical system and the primary air conditioning unit so personnel can return as quickly as possible.
