Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Nancy Alvarez has been honored with the Florida Sheriffs Association Lifetime Achievement Award for her over 40 years of service in law enforcement.
Career Highlights
Alvarez began her career as a 911 Communications Specialist and later completed the Basic Law Enforcement Academy to become a full-time sworn officer. She has held various leadership roles, including Commander of District 7 in Key Largo and working with the South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas task force.
Currently, Alvarez oversees the agency’s Court Security and Civil divisions. She expressed her dedication to keeping the community and officers safe, stating, ‘Anyone who knows me knows my goal is to keep our community and our officers safe and I love my job, even at three in the morning!’
Sheriff Rick Ramsay commended Alvarez for her extensive career and dedication to the county, saying, ‘Lt. Nancy Alvarez and I have worked together many years and our friendship reflects our shared passion for the job. She is truly deserving of this honor.’
