A fire in western Broward has burned 3,600 acres and is 0% contained, according to the Florida Forest Service. The flames are located in the Everglades, west of U.S. 27 and about 10 miles north of Interstate 75.
The fire is not threatening homes at this time. Light winds on Friday morning are keeping the smoke contained to the area, but its direction later in the day will determine where residents will see hazy skies.
Rain forecast for the afternoon could assist in the firefight.
