New court motions have been filed in the upcoming murder trial of Faith Hedgepeth, a 19-year-old student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who was found dead in her apartment in 2012.
Case Background
Miguel Enrique Salguero Olivares was arrested in 2021 after DNA evidence linked him to the crime. He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors have filed motions to prevent the defense from suggesting another person committed the crime and to exclude certain evidence, including polygraph examinations and a 911 call analysis.
The defense has also filed motions, including one asking the court to order prosecutors to turn over records related to the decision to charge Salguero Olivares with murder but not other crimes.
