Senator Rand Paul announced during a Make America Healthy Again media event that former federal health official Dr. Anthony Fauci is set to testify publicly next week before a Senate committee.
Fauci’s Testimony
According to Paul, any statements Fauci makes during the upcoming session will not fall under the protection of the presidential pardon granted by Joe Biden before leaving office. The senator stated that this means any new false testimony could result in direct legal consequences.
The announcement coincided with updates on a new multi-agency environmental health agreement. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have signed a joint memorandum of understanding.
Environmental Health Agreement
Under the agreement, the three agencies plan to combine resources to improve research, strengthen oversight, and reduce public exposure to toxic heavy metals found in food and the environment.
The media event also featured several high-profile speakers from government and health advocacy sectors. Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), spoke about recent legal challenges facing the agency.
