Lindsey Vonn, a 41-year-old alpine ski racer, is still recovering from a horror crash at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Her ankle is still broken five months after the incident.
Recovery Process
Vonn’s recovery has been a slow process. She was airlifted to a hospital after the crash, where she underwent four surgeries to repair a complex tibia fracture in her left leg. She has been using a wheelchair and crutches but is now able to walk unaided.
Vonn marked her five-month recovery by posting a video on Instagram, showing her progressively working towards standing and working out in a gym again. She credited orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tom Hackett with saving her leg from being amputated.
