Ray Godfrey, a longtime district employee, has been named the interim head football coach at Ozark High School. Godfrey previously spent 16 years as the head football coach at Neosho, leading the team to five district championships and three conference titles.
Godfrey’s Experience
Godfrey’s experience made him a natural fit for the position, according to Ozark athletic director Yancey Little. Godfrey has also served as an assistant football, wrestling, and baseball coach at Ozark, as well as the school’s strength and conditioning coach.
The Tigers will be looking to bounce back from a 3-8 season, and Godfrey is focused on establishing a strong culture and helping the kids learn and grow. He will be joined on the coaching staff by Jason Taylor, Justin Emmerton, Jacob Gideon, Todd Sell, and Matt Fevold.
Upcoming Season
Godfrey’s first game as head coach will be against his former team, Neosho, on August 28. The Tigers will be without All-COC running back Anthony Cordell, who recently transferred to Logan-Rogersville. However, they will return talented players like Lindenwood commit Hendrix Haymes and speedy offensive standout Jett Easley.
