Sheinelle Jones, co-host of TODAY With Jenna & Sheinelle, recently opened up about how she discusses body image in front of her 14-year-old daughter, Clara. Jones wants her daughter to have a positive body image and to love herself, regardless of her physical appearance.
Jones acknowledged that her daughter is watching her and learning from her behavior. She said, “Our daughters — and guys, boys too — are listening and watching. And I noticed that she takes on a lot of my mannerisms. We even dress the same, or we wear headbands. And so it goes to show even when you’re not saying it, they’re watching our behavior.”
Positive Role Modeling
Jenna Bush Hager, Jones’ co-host, agreed with her and emphasized the importance of positive role modeling. Jones said, “The way I want her to live is how I’m trying to live, right? So I don’t want to look in the mirror and disparage the body that’s kept me healthy.”
Jones also discussed the importance of empowering women to make their own choices, including in relationships. She said, “I have told my girls that, because what it does is it empowers women to think about what they want — in everything, not just in romantic relationships.”
