Ukraine’s deputy economy minister, Taras Vysotskiy, stated that the country will do everything possible to protect its seaports and guarantee grain exports at no less than last season’s level.
Grain Export Challenges
Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian Black Sea ports’ infrastructure and cargo vessels, affecting the country’s ability to export grain and other agricultural goods. Despite these challenges, Ukraine aims to maintain its grain export volumes, with a forecast of around 43 million metric tons in the 2026/27 season.
The country’s main farmers’ union, UAC, reported that Ukraine has lost about a third of its capacity to export grain via its vital Black Sea ports due to Russian missile and drone attacks. Ukrainian forces have also been targeting Russian energy infrastructure, including oil tankers.
