The Food Bank of Wyoming is working to combat food insecurity, which affects roughly 48 million people in the US, including 14 million children. Food insecurity is defined by the USDA as a situation where people don’t have enough to eat and don’t know where their next meal will come from.
Getting Involved
The Food Bank of Wyoming has developed new ways for individuals and companies to get involved in the fight against hunger. Manager Jenna Noelle stated that they received many requests from people and businesses throughout the state who want to volunteer but don’t live near their distribution center in the Casper area.
To address this, the Food Bank of Wyoming has created To-Go Volunteer Projects. These projects include Produce Bag Production, Hygiene Kits, Birthday in a Box, and Food Box Cards. Volunteers can explore these projects at wyomingfoodbank.org/get-involved/volunteer.
Additionally, the 3rd annual Corporate Challenge is underway, allowing companies to earn points by volunteering, making financial donations, hosting employee fundraisers, sponsoring a mobile pantry, and sharing the Food Bank of Wyoming on social media.
