The Fort Worth Stockyards have become a hotspot for FIFA World Cup fans looking to embrace classic Texas style. Visitors are flocking to stores like Cavender’s to purchase cowboy hats and other western wear.
Surge in Cowboy Hat Sales
According to Donald Havard, manager at Cavender’s, cowboy hat sales are up 20 percent, with over 400 hats sold in just three weeks. ‘They start grabbing hats and puttin’ em on, and we show ’em how to wear it,’ Havard said.
Wild Bill’s Western Store in Dallas has also seen a surge in sales, with Norway superstar Erling Haaland purchasing a shirt that sold out in 45 minutes. Haaland and his teammates also bought hats, boots, and other western wear.
The owners of Wild Bill’s say the players were ‘playing dress up’ and enjoying the southern charm of Texas. ‘There’s something to it, right? There’s an air about it. Having a cowboy hat on. Having boots on,’ said owner Cody Newport.
