St. Louis Cardinals’ Jordan Walker won the 2026 Home Run Derby, defeating Philadelphia Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber. Walker hit 12 home runs in the final round, edging out Schwarber’s 11.
Home Run Derby Format
The 2026 Home Run Derby introduced a new format, giving all eight contestants 20 swings to hit as many home runs as possible. If a player’s final swing resulted in a home run, they continued swinging until they didn’t hit a home run.
Boston Red Sox star Willson Contreras set the tone with 13 home runs in his 20 swings. Walker matched him, and they both made it to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Schwarber found his groove, hitting nine home runs to set the tone against Contreras. Walker continued his run, edging out Junior Caminero 6-5 to make it to the finals.
In the finals, Schwarber hit 11 home runs, putting pressure on Walker. Walker was up to the challenge, hitting four home runs to start and eventually tying Schwarber with 10 home runs. Walker then hit a walk-off home run to win the derby.
