The Milwaukee Brewers concluded the 2026 First-Year Player Draft with 16 selections Sunday, completing their draft class of 20 players. The announcements were made by Vice President of Amateur Acquisition Tod Johnson.
Local Players Drafted
On the second day of the draft, 2 area players were selected. Jack Brenner of Fond du Lac was selected in the seventh round by the Atlanta Braves and Thomas Burns of Hortonville was chosen by the Minnesota Twins in the eighth round.
Futurestarsseries.com had this on Brenner: “Good lean projectable frame, athletic look, speed and hit ability to hit at top of order, competes in box, comp to Craig Biggio…Speed and athleticism may push players profile to SS or CF. Either way he is a center of the diamond profile with a chance for five tools.”
The MLB.com Burns scouting report reads like this. Burns began his college career by headlining Arizona State’s rotation before shoulder tendinitis ended his freshman season after six starts. He has operated out of Texas’ bullpen the last two years, impressing with his fastball but never throwing enough strikes to lock down the closer’s role.
