Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen was placed on the 15-day injury list Sunday with inflammation in his pitching elbow.
Gallen reported elbow soreness to the team on Saturday and he was scratched from Sunday’s scheduled start against the host Los Angeles Dodgers.
Gallen, 30, was sent back to Phoenix on Saturday and underwent imaging that displayed the nature of his ailment.
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that there wasn’t yet a timetable for how long Gallen will be sidelined.
Gallen (3-9, 6.34 ERA) has struggled this season but his problems recently increased. He is 0-5 with an 8.24 ERA over his past eight starts.
Left-hander Mitch Bratt was recalled from Triple-A Reno to start against the Dodgers and he gave up three runs and three hits over three innings.
Six relievers followed Bratt and combined for six no-hit innings in a 5-3 victory that completed a three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium.
